Why do we need to service our air conditioning system?
Air conditioning units can be somewhat of a lifesaver, both during the hot summer months, when the heat can make being inside unbearable, and the cold winter months, when the inevitable morning chill arrives.
A regular service for your air conditioning unit is essential for keeping it running smoothly. Without this it could begin to experience issues such as struggling to get to the required temperature. If left, these issues can end up being costly to rectify.
What is the difference between the standard service and a deep clean?
A standard system service will involve cleaning the filter, cleaning the coils and testing the system functionality. This is great maintenance, but it doesn’t generally remove any of the clumps of dirt or debris which may build up within the AC system with heavy use.
During an AC deep clean, the engineer dismantles the complete unit back to the core frame. They then vacuum out all the loose pieces of dirt, dust and debris and spray the entirety of the system with a specialised cleaning fluid. This fluid is designed to break down any clumps of dirt and is then removed with a specialised pressure cleaner. This cycle may be repeated several times depending on the level of dirt within the system. This takes the system back to a ‘like new’ state.
The system will then be assembled back together and fully function tested.
In some specific working environments, or if a system is in a high use area, a system deep clean will provide great additional benefits.
How do I know if I need a deep clean?
There are some common signs that would let you know that your air conditioning unit will benefit from a deep clean.
These are:
Air Flow
• A build-up of dirt, dust and debris on a fan will inhibit the amount of air flow it can provide, resulting in a loss of efficiency and ultimately costing you more to operate the AC unit.
Odour’s
• The build-up of dirt and debris within the system can harbour germs and bacteria, if left they can lead to unpleasant odours.
Dirt Deposits
• When there is an excessive build-up of dirt inside the fan unit or housing, you may notice that during operation the system throws out lumps of dirt. This is a clear sign that a deep clean will be beneficial.
Operational Inefficiencies
• A build-up of dirt over the sensors and housing will have a negative effect on the efficiency on the system.
You will notice a huge improvement on the overall operation of the AC system once a deep clean has been carried out, helping to keep the system running efficiently and making it as cost effective to use as possible.
At I-HT Air Conditioning, we can offer the deep clean service either as a one-off option or this can be added onto a regular service schedule.
